Hey there!

If you can imagine the smell of freshly bloomed gardenias, you’ve imagined Montage Palmetto Bluff. Spanish moss swayed from low-hanging oaks. Lanterns flickered in the salty breeze. If you can imagine a wedding weekend perfectly balanced between effortless and elegant, you’ve imagined Kelsey and Lawson’s celebration at Montage Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, South Carolina, surrounded by their closest family and friends. Although we had a brief virtual meeting a few weeks before the wedding, we truly met Kelsey and Lawson after arriving on the beautiful grounds of Montage. From that very first in-person conversation, we knew this was a particularly special couple. Though they had grown up alongside one another, they never considered taking their relationship deeper — at least not at first. Later in life, however, after a few unexpected turns, everything shifted. By then, Kelsey had two precious boys. She finally gave Lawson a chance. And Lawson proved he could love her well. He loved her boys just as fiercely. Ultimately, this weekend wasn’t just celebrating the marriage of a couple. It was celebrating the marriage of a family.

Kelsey and Lawson first greeted their guests with “dinks” at a posh pickleball tournament on the grounds of Montage Palmetto Bluff. From colorful athleisure wear to refreshing cocktails and friendly smack talk, the kickoff event immediately set the tone. In many ways, it captured the spirit of the entire weekend.

More than anything, hearing how a couple felt during their day means the most to us. And for Kelsey and Lawson, their words say it best.

“From the minute that we started working with Cameron and Elizabeth Photography, our experience was nothing short of incredible. During our planning process, we really never were concerned too much with the little frivolous details of the wedding. What we wanted was to create an intimate gathering with our closest friends and family to share in our family becoming whole and we wanted our photo to reflect just that.

A Waterfront Welcome Party at Montage Palmetto Bluff

Is there a better way to arrive at your welcome party than by boat? We certainly don’t believe so. And so, Kelsey and Lawson chose to begin the evening on the water. They shared the experience with Kelsey’s boys — a memory they’ll carry forever. As they approached the dock, guests waved them in. An entire crowd waited with open arms, ready to hug their necks and honor them with heartfelt speeches.

Kelsey and Lawson started their wedding day doing what they loved. That morning, Lawson woke with the sun and headed to Hilton Head National Golf Club with his groomsmen. Meanwhile, Kelsey began her day over brunch with her bridal party.
